One of the cornerstones of the London Design Festival is 100% Design. Founded in 1995 by Ian Rudge and Rachel Robin, it can claim some responsibility for changing perceptions of contemporary design in the UK and has over the years become a genuinely important date on the international design calendar. Since the LDF began its collaboration with the Royal Festival Hall last year, the Southbank has emerged as the intellectual heart of the festival. This year there are discussions on cities’ need for creativity; the importance of intellectual property rights; how to use design as a management tool; and the nature of branding. The Y Design Awards (YDA), part of London Design Festival 2008, is now open for entries. Covering nine distinct categories, the awards recognise excellence in the UK’s diverse digital creative industries at a designer level. Entrants are encouraged to submit their work via the YDA Website.







Volunteer for the Design Army
An estimated 400,000 people are expected to attend the city-wide design Festival in 2008. To ensure visitors can find their way around and to help the Festival Team, we are now recruiting the first ever London ‘Design Army’, who will be briefed and trained to support the festival and its visitors.
